Midnight in Sicily

What an enthralling and fascinating read! "Midnight in Sicily" by Peter Robb is an unusual combination of commentary on the mafia, cosa nostra, murky Italian politics, travel, cuisine, the Sicilian writer Lampedusa, and the amazing story of the death of the famous Italian artist Guttuso. Peter Robb's writing is like a very large canvas, he paints a very detailed picture which takes a good deal of attention and concentration to absorb. I was particularly intrigued with the Guttuso story, truly a gaudy soap opera, incredibly melodramatic and so Italian......
