Mission Australia’s Reconnect Gold Coast will celebrate the organisation’s 150th birthday year with a Teddy Bear Challenge starting today.
The challenge, the creative brainchild of a group of committed staff, will see 150 teddy bears made, decorated and delivered to children in need throughout Queensland.
Mission Australia spokesperson, Mary Pennell, said the challenge was a fun way for staff to celebrate the milestone.
“With Mission Australia celebrating 150 years of helping Australians in need, we thought we should do something out of the box to commemorate the milestone,” said Mary.
“The Teddy Bear Challenge will bring local services, our corporate partners and Mission Australia clients together for a fun–filled afternoon of making teddy bears.”
Mission Australia will deliver all teddy bears created to the Queensland Department of Child Safety and Family Services, where they will then be distributed to children in need throughout the state.
Mary said her staff and Mission Australia’s corporate partners are committed to ensuring the success of the Teddy Bear Challenge.
“We're looking forward to celebrating 150 years of Mission Australia by putting smiles on 150 children’s faces.”
